These are just a few of the products. Trust, there were MUCH more that I threw away! |
Miss Jessie's
From this product line, I used the Super Sweetback Treatment, Curly Pudding, Curly Meringue and Curly Buttercreme.
Styler: Curly Pudding & Curly Meringue
Moisturizing Styler: Curly Buttercreme
Deep Treatment: Sweetback Treatment
Deep Treatment: Sweetback Treatment
The products in this line have a thick consistency, which I love. The scents are tolerable, except for the Super Sweetback Treatment, which is REALLY sweet and gives me a headache every time I apply :( However, this line gives me really good curl definition for my wash and go's and is super moisturizing. It also did not leave any white residue in my hair as with other products. If you are willing and able to pay the price of this product line, I would recommend giving it a try.
In Nassau, Bahamas, the 8 oz. is approx. $22 and the $16 oz. is approx. $48. Since my hand is a bit heavy with product, I got about 2 uses out of the 8 oz. and 4 uses out of the 16 oz. I have not used this product line in a few months, but I have no reservations repurchasing once I get over the price. Ugh!
Shea Moisture
From this product line, I use the Coconut & Hibiscus Collection.
Moisturizes and Conditions:
- Curl Enhancing Smoothie
- Curl Gel Soufflé
- Curl & Style Milk
- Hold & Shine Moisture Mist
The Curl Enhancing Smoothie and Curl Gel Soufflé have a jelly-like consistency (slips out of your hand easily). The Curl & Style Milk has a thick consistency, and the Hold & Shine Moisture Mist is in a liquid form in a spray bottle. In terms of packaging, I would prefer if the Curl & Style Milk was in the same packaging as the Smoothie and Soufflé. It is difficult retrieving the product from the squeeze bottle due to its thick consistency. The scent of this product line is of a sweet nature but not overbearing at all.
I use these products for my wash and go's and have no problems with white residue remaining in my hair after drying. It gives me moderate curl definition, not as much as Miss Jessie's, but it works. I usually purchase the Shea Moisture products from Amazon (sold in Nassau), and the price ranges from $13-$17. From this line, the Curl Enhancing Smoothie and the Curl Gel Soufflé remain staples in my collection, a constant repurchase. I really did not think the Mist added a huge benefit compared to my natural oils, and I did not see any difference in my hair when adding the Curl & Style Milk to my regimen. Why use extra products for no reason?!?
The Creamy Hair Lotion is a bit thicker than the Leave-In Conditioning Repair Cream, but I think both consistencies suit the use of the product. The use of the products is self-explanatory. I find them both really moisturizing. I use the Repair Cream just before my styler when prepping my wash and go's and the hair lotion on Day 3-7 hair to refresh my hair in the morning. The packaging is effective, and the scent is also not ridiculously strong.
This product is sold in Nassau, but I usually purchase from Amazon where the Leave-In Conditioning Repair Cream is 16 oz. for approx. $9, and the Creamy Hair Lotion is 13.8 oz. for approx. $14. I would recommend.
Always remember: The above is my experience with these products, your experience might be different. Don't be too timid to try and see for yourself!
