I transitioned for 5 1/2 months (Feb. 15 - Aug. 2, 2014). During this time, I styled my hair mainly in braid outs, no heat curls (e.g. flexirods) or a bun. As a professional, I wanted to ensure that my hair was well kept during my transitioning phase.

I did not experiment with other hairstyles due to the difficulty of having two different textures. I had to be extra cautious when detangling, especially where my new growth (natural hair) and relaxed ends met to avoid breakage.

I washed and treated my hair weekly using a variety of products. I have minimal loyalty when it comes to hair products and experimented with numerous products I saw on YouTube. Some of these products are below. In an effort to use little or no heat, I air dried my hair 95% of the time. I always ensured that my hair was properly moisturized and used pure oils to seal the moisture in. This helped to keep my hair moisturized to prevent breakage.

It was great while it lasted. However, by the end of July, I got tired of the relaxed ends and wanted a change. I am not one to wear weave often; when I do weave my hair, I keep it maybe two weeks at most. It also breaks my hair and causes my scalp to itch. Also, it was summer and way too hot for extra hair. To this end, weaving was not an option for me to make transitioning easier and for variety. This led to my big chop o_O
